3D Strawberries

Look at these adorable strawberries!!

These were very easy to make.  The step by step directions can be found at Whoopsie Daisy.

You can make these large or small.  They will hold all kinds of goodies depending on the size.

I cut these at 5 inches and they hold 2 jolly ranchers or you can turn them upside down and they will hold a tootsie pop.

Whoopsie Daisy provides a template you can use or you can go to The Frugal Crafter and she provides directions for the sucker holder.  She also provides an SVG file for those with Sure Cuts A Lot (that is what I used!)

These were quick and easy.   I spent about 20 minutes on these 3 strawberries (not including cutting time!).

If you have the Cricut cartridge, Flower Shoppe.  You could make this with the flowers on the cartridge.  Just use one with 5 connecting petals.

Inspiration!

The cover of this Better Homes and Gardens magazine was my inspiration for my next card. I loved the colors and the cute whimsical look of the snowman and bird.

I used my Joys of the Season cartridge for the snowman and "peace"; and my Cherry Limeaid cartridge for the bird.

I had to cut the arm off the snowman so I could glue it in the place I wanted. I also had to cut the snowman at 8 1/2 inches in order to get him big enough to look right. The bird and phrase were both cut at 1 inch.

More Cards

Here's a couple of cards I made last night. The bear card looks better in person, I had to adjust the lighting levels in order for the bear against the snow to show up. The snowflake paper is actually a dark muted green.

The second card I made for halloween. Basically because I just received my new cartridge Best Images of 2009. This is the clown from that cartridge. My hubby says that with some Christmas paper, he would look like an elf. Hmmmm.

It's that time of year....

Yep! September! The weather cools down, heats up, rain, mist, sprinkles, cold, hot, just right. You never know what you're going to get around here this time of year. Kind of like my Christmas cards.

This is the time I start trying to come up with an idea for a card that is great looking, but not too time consuming.

These are the first two that I've made an my family is divided.

I used my cricut with my Cri-Kit pens to draw the border and write the "merry christmas' phrase. The ornaments I cut with SCAL and then stamped the swirls with gold ink.

I love the paper on the second card, very shimmery christmas tree. All the cutting with was my cricut.

The pictures aren't that great but you get the general idea!

Lacrosse Card

Here is the card I made for my son's birthday. He loves lacrosse so this seemed perfect for him.

The ovals and silhouette I cut with my Cricut using Sure Cuts A Lot software. The lacrosse stick came from the Eyelet Outlet. I embossed the background with my Cuttlebug.

To get the image, I googled lacrosse silhouette. After it was cut, I removed the lacrosse stick he was holding so I could use the lacrosse brad.

Mistakes are good

This is not quite the card I had imagined in my head. It was supposed to be straight, everything lined up perfectly. But, since we don't live in a perfect world, my matting ended up crooked...not a lot, but enough to be noticeable.

So when your mats are cock-eyed, put everything at an angle and who can tell??!

The topiary was cut with my cricut and I used Flower Soft to give it color and dimension. You can buy it most anywhere or online at flower-soft.com.

The stamped saying and ribbon are from Stampin Up.

Birthday Card

A quick and simple birthday card for the person who really likes green!!

The string for the balloon is scrappers floss and the white highlight is a white sharpie.

The stamp and ribbon is from Stampin Up!

Mixer Card

Can you tell what my sister is getting for christmas? I cut this image with scal and my cricut. It's kind of hard to tell but the "for you" and the strips on the mixer and very shiny!! I pulled the shiny cardstock from a toy that my kids received.

Final Christmas Card

This is the card that hubby and I decided on for this year. This card has the sentiment printed with my Cricut using Cri-kit pens but that didn't work so well as the gel pens don't like the printed paper very much.

I just printed "merry christmas" on the paper with my printer, cut the tree and star with my Cricut and punched the christmas balls with a small hole punch.

You can't see it in the picture very well but the tree, star and christmas balls are all done with glitter paper.

Simple but we like it!

Christmas Cards

Well, once again I've fallen behind in keeping this blog current! I've also fallen behind in figuring out what to do about Christmas cards.

Here is the start of what will (hopefully) be a short process and I counting on the card-making muse to visit my house and inspire me!

All of these were cut with my Cricut using Sure Cuts a Lot software.

For the tree I used my Cri-Kuts gel pens in my Cricut and then cut the tree out.

These were all pretty easy but not really what I was looking for. Guess I'll have to keep trying!

SVG Files

Well, I really love my new Sure Cuts A Lot but have discovered a sad, sad fact. I have no designing talent!

But I am pretty good at searching out the people who are. My latest find is an extremely talented lady from Sweden.

Halloween Pumpkins

I used my cricut to cut my stencil for this years halloween pumpkin. This is the coffee cup that is on the "lyrical letters" cartridge (I believe that's correct!).

I set my cricut to cut this at about 4.5 inches as it was a pretty small pumpkin.

I loved the way it turned out though!

Teacher Thanks

Weeellll, I've been a busy little beaver lately!!! School is almost out for the summer. I can't wait. I love being home with my kids!!

We have two 6th grade teachers at our elementary school so I've made them both a card and will have all the kids sign them.

These are a full 8.5X11 sheet of paper folded in half so there will be plenty of room to write inside.

I used my cricut to cut the shapes. I used Walk in My Garden, Storybook and Calligraphy Collection to do these. I also used the Dream a Little stamp set from Stampin Up! to stamp the back ground images.

The small pink flower and the dark blue flower are from Got Flowers? and the pearl center is an old button. The blue polka dot center is a brad.

Lyrical Letters

I can't wait until the mail gets here today!!! I have loved this Lyrical Letters cartridge for my Cricut since everyone started pre-selling it!!.

I balked at the price though. The lowest I found it for was 50.00 at Oh My Crafts and although that's where I normally buy my cartridges I couldn't afford that price.

So I went to Ebay. I knew I had 36.00 in my Paypal account so that would be my limit. Then, I just started bidding on cartridges one at a time. As soon as I lost a bid I'd move on to the next one and guess what??? It only took me 21 tries!! I finally won an auction and got my cartridge for 34.15 with free shipping.

It should be here today....just in time for the weekend!

Valentine's Box

This is a box I made to put valentine goodies in for my son.

I started with a box that some coffee came in. I used Stampin' Up! paper for everything.

I put glue all over the box and layed the paper flat on the box. Before it dried I loosely refolded the box so the paper would "dry" in the right shape.

After the glue had dried I cut away the excess paper.

I used my Cricut to cut the emblem, letters and hearts. The cartridges I used are storybook, home accents, opposites attract, and cuttin' up.

I cut a piece of barely banana to used a a background and glued that to the front of the box. I put a fire and ice brad in the center of the emblem and glued that to the yellow piece. Then I ran my ribbon through my small xyron sticker maker and wrapped it around the box. The bow was tied seperately.

I punch a hold in the top of the box and used gold cord to hold all the hearts and the word "love" at the top so they would dangle a bit.

Our Monthly Calendar

Sometimes we have a hard time keeping our schedules straight, especially my son's basketball schedule (they have practices at different times including 6am!!). My pastor's wife uses this method and I loved it!!

This is the tile just above our stove. It was the perfect size to fit a calendar.

The days of the week and the dates are in black but I'm going to either find some calendar vinyl cling or cut some with my Cricut.

Everybody else has their own color and general items have a different color from everyone else.

These are just dry erase markers so it wipes clean. This looks great with just white tile but I couldn't get my husband to change ours just for this!

Christmas Thanks

Here's one of my "Christmas Thank-You" cards. Lots of paper piecing and glue but a good result.

I used my cricut and the Christmas Cheer cartridge. The santa outfit, hanger, and candy cane are all on that cartridge.

The "thanks" was stamped using the "Make It Count" set from Stampin Up!.

I used white, black and real red paper (all from Stampin Up!) and real red ink. The belt buckle I colored in with a silver pen.

Gift Card Holder

This is a gift card hold I made for my mom. I used the "merry" set from Stampin Up! and my Cricut to cut the scalloped oval.

The snow flakes are stickers that I found at Michaels.

I used a basic matchbook template, cutting it 8 1/2 X 4 inches. For the pouches inside I made them 8 X 4 and then folded them in half. I punched a half circle in the front of each to make it easier to get the gift card out.

After I decided which "pouch" I wanted in front, middle, and back, I trimmed the first pouch by 1/2", the second pouch by 1/4" and left the third pouch the original height.

Then I used Terrifically Tacky Tape to glue the edges of each pouch down and decorated the front of each pouch.

I put the pouches in the book so they fit all the way to the bottom and used my crop-a-dile to punch holes for the gold cord.

I did not glue the bottom portion of the scallop down as I wanted it to lay over the front of the matchbook.

Gift Box

I made this box to put a small gift in. The trees in the background were cut on my Cricut using the Christmas Cheer cartridge. The three trees in the front were stamped green on green using the Season of Joy set from Stampin Up!. I bought the gable box at Paper Zone.

I just glued the ribbon around the bottom and then adhered the trees, tied on the tags and it was done.

Jolliest Time of the Year

THIS IS IT!!! This is the card I am making this year. I love everything about it!!

I CASE'd it from Splitcoaststampers.

I used my Cricut and Storybook cartridge to make the oval and the scalloped oval and my oval SU punch to punch the small oval.

All of the paper came from SU. The card in Kiwi Kiss (which looks like the Grinch when it's all by itself). and the red is Riding Hood Red.

Santa is colored in with color pencils except for the white which I used a white charcoal pencil. I outlined all the shading on him with a black marker.

The ribbon is also from SU but the snowflake brad I bought a Michaels.
